Amazon Hike Electronic Accessories Fees to 12%

Amazon have moved several of their fee structures around which most are effective from today and the big hike for electronic accessories from 7% to 12% is delayed until the 4th April.

A new category has been added just for electronic accessories to be able to charge this higher value, along with the minimum fee per unit. Amazon is not daft, they know which lines are more profitable than others and the hike in fees doesn’t surprise me as we already know that Amazon charge 25% for jewellery products.

    “12% isn’t too bad” … what planet … ? It doesn’t hurt if you’re not a retailer (any more)

7-12% is utterly ridiculous, especially in the current economic climate, as Jeff said “probably just shup up our amazon store and move on”

Amazon couldn’t care less about the retailers on the marketplace anyway, this just re-affirms it. We have a unified Amazon account and sell into France, La Poste had industrial action in January and we got x3 A-Z’s, and even though we had a 98% rating Amazon removed our selling privileges, just the phrase “privileges” tells you all you need to know about Amazon. Of course we can’t speak to a real person to explain the situation and get selling again.

We’ve also had to endure increases with Play.com too … we are just waiting for Ebay to follow suit, why wouldn’t they ?

It’s a real shame that Amazon don’t treat the retailers on marketplace with the same care and respect that they do their own customers.

    Rant over ..

      Howdy Jeff,

The 12% isn’t too bad, it’s the minimum 50p fees that will hurt the most as the average selling price for these products is really low, so for a £3.50 item, the fees actually work out to be 14.28% (and higher if the sell price is less)
