OfflineMy name is Matthew and we have recently started trying to trade using FBA. So far it hasn’t been a great success.
I can see that in our reports page we have achieved nearly 400 sessions and yet we have barely sold any product. Some of these 400 were generated by an Adwords campaing that is still currently running.
My thoughts are that we are not doing something right on our detail pages?

It’d be great if you could pass along any recomendations.
Many thanks,
Matthew Powney
Hey Matthew
At first glances all of the basics seem to be there, the title, description, bullet points and pictures etc. Have you filled in the Amazon Browse nodes?
The only thing I would say is that as it is a new account, you don’t have any feedback showing, and on Amazon although its not as crucial as on eBay having those customer testimonials do still count. (The fact your using FBA, I understand should counteract this as Amazon will be dealing with all of the CS stuff)
Have you got any competitors on Amazon? If so see if there are any key differences between there listing and yours. How long have the listings been live with FBA just out of interest?
Sorry I couldn’t give you any quick fixes from my knowledge at this stage

Hola Matthew,
FBA is the lethal advantage here so having no feedback is not a huge factor at all here (and it being Amazon not eBay too), so lets rule that out for now.
Browse nodes look empty, not polled the Amazon API to check them but judging by the bottom product details tab, I’m guessing they’re not complete and Dave also makes an excellent point, so two questions for you:
#1 What is the top selling “Wall Mounted Soap Dispenser” on Amazon?
#2 How does yours compare?
Those are defo worth mulling over!
Picking on this item http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hornbe…..=8-1#al_rp and having a quick scan these are the points I’d suggest you look at to begin with:
Title
The title is about you, not the product.
This would be my suggested title:
“Chrome Wall Mounted Soap Dispenser for the Kitchen or Bathroom”
That’s the product and “Hornbeam Ivy” is in the manufacturer and “WD2501″ pop in the keywords section.
First Image
This image just looks odd and the soap looks radioactive (sorry it does).

Put this one http://ecx.images-amazon.com/i…..AA300_.jpg or this one first http://ecx.images-amazon.com/i…..AA300_.jpg
Bullet points
“Benefits rather than features” and you’re almost there, but the the first line is negative and is letting the product down.
“Please note attached bottles not included. Youtube Search – “Hornbeam Ivy Soap Dispenser” for full product demo”
Put this one last and maybe reword to
“Youtube Search – “Hornbeam Ivy Soap Dispenser” for full product demo”
Try that out on this and the other item and let’s see what impact that has :)

OfflineGreat,
Thanks Dave and Matt for all your help. I’ll make those changes and see what happens.
Two confusions I have is firstly over the keywords. I’ve put in complete phrases as you do on Google Adwords. Is this the correct way or should it be individual words? E.g: soap dispenser sink, wall mounted dispensers, soap dispenser wall mounted chrome, soap dispenser,
Secondly, with the browse nodes – I currently have:
Home & Garden > Kitchen & Home > Categories > Kitchen & Dining > Kitchen Storage & Organisation
Home & Garden > Kitchen & Home > Categories > Homeware & Furniture > Bathroom > Bathroom Accessories > Liquid Dispensers
haha… I agree with the radioactive bit now you say it. The reason I chose that photo was that it showed the product in context. The bottle itself is easily changeable, would that be better or would you still recommend the either of the two photos you suggested?
Many thanks again for all your help, is much appreciated!
Matt
